Meet Our Staff

Steve Kohl

Steve has been a licensed mortician since 1987. He is a partner of the Kohl & McRaith Funeral Homes with his brother, John Kohl and brother-in-law, Dan McRaith. Steve was raised in Faribault and graduated from Bethlehem Academy High School. He then graduated from the University of Minnesota Mortuary Science Program and started his career in funeral service in 1987 in Owatonna, MN. In 1990 he returned to Faribault and the Parker Kohl Funeral Home. Steve and his wife, Gail have two children and reside in Faribault. He is actively involved in his church, the Faribault Sertoma Club, the Faribault Area Chamber of Commerce and the Faribault Knights of Columbus.

John Kohl

John has been a licensed mortician since 1993. He is a partner of the Kohl & McRaith Funeral Homes with his brother, Steve Kohl and brother-in-law, Dan McRaith. John was raised in Faribault and graduated from Bethlehem Academy High School and St. John's University. He then graduated from the University of Minnesota Mortuary Science Program and started his career in funeral service in 1993 at Parker Kohl Funeral Home. John and his wife, Kris have three children and reside in Faribault. He is actively involved with his church, his children's school, and is a member of the Faribault Lions Club and Faribault Knights of Columbus.


James Kohl

James Kohl was raised in Faribault and graduated from Bethlehem Academy High School and the University of Minnesota Department of Mortuary Science. He served in the U. S. Army for three years with the 82nd Airborne Division at Ft. Bragg, NC. He joined his father, Edward Kohl, and began his funeral service career in Faribault in 1965. In 1978, he merged his business interest with the Parker Funeral Home and since that time the firm has been known as the Parker Kohl Funeral Home. He and his wife, Kay, have four children and ten grandchildren. He continues active with the firm in a consulting capacity.


Brian Dagan

Brian has been a licensed mortician since 2008. He graduated from Mankato East High School in 1983 and attended the University of Minnesota/Waseca. Brian has farmed in the Eagle Lake area since 1983. In 2007, he graduated from South Central College with a degree in Farm Business Management and also from St. Petersburg College in St. Petersburg, FL with a degree in Mortuary Science. He has been employed with the Kohl-McRaith Funeral Homes since 2000. Brian and his wife Gina have three children and reside in rural Eagle Lake on their family farm. He is a member of Hosanna Lutheran Church, Mankato and the LeSueur Pioneer Power Association.


Jesse Starkson

Jesse is a 2007 graduate of Faribault Senior High School and began his career in Mortuary Science with us at the age of 14. He will be starting in the Program of Mortuary Science at the University of Minnesota in the fall of 2008, and will graduate with a Bachelors Degree in Mortuary Science in 2010. Currently, Jesse is a Morticians Assistant, but will return to be a licensed Mortician when he graduates from the program. Jesse has chosen to work while he is going through school to help better his education and to become familiar with the families we serve. He is actively involved in the Cannon & Wells Lake Association, where he presides as President of the organization.

Deanna Trahan

Deanna has been with Parker Kohl Funeral Home since October 2003 as their Secretary. Deanna was raised in Faribault and graduated from Mankato State University in 1991 with a B.S. Degree in Business Administration. She previously worked in the Accounting Department at ABC Bus Companies. Deanna and her husband, Todd have two children and reside in Faribault. She is actively involved with her children's school, their church, and the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life.
